We're very good at telling ourselves....... as well as others, that we don't have time. Whether it's doing exercise or cleaning the bathroom, not having enough hours in the day is our reason for not doing something.
I'm not judging..........I'm just as bad.....especially when it comes to learning Polish!
But we can't ignore the fact that learning a second language (English..for example) has so many postives.
Here are my Top 5 reasons for learning a language.
Career - It's becoming one of the top requirements when it comes to business. Being bilingual opens so many more doors for you. Companies want employees who can communicate with all their customers, whatever country they live in.
Communication - Being multilingual allows you to engage with more people not only professionally but socially. It opens up new worlds. Being able to speak to someone in their own language can be so rewarding for both parties. You can make new friends and connect with new social groups.
Brain power - It's been proven that people who speak more than one language are better at multitasking, problem solving and have improved memory skills. Add to this better listening skills and higher concentration levels, you're bordering on being superhuman!!
Confidence - Making mistakes is part of learning, but as you improve and the errors decrease, you have a fantastic feeling of achievement when you can talk to someone in their first language. A natural confidence grows in unison with your knowledge.
Openness - A second language can open your mind to the culture of that country. It can make you appreciate the history, people and traditions associated with them. Connected to this comes tolerance and acceptance of others and a more positive attitude towards its culture.
So there you have it. Some pretty strong reasons for finding the time to learn!! So why not rearrange your diary and find that extra time and become a better version of you.
