Obviously, as a Native Speaker and English language teacher I must say that spelling is obviously very important. When learning a language, improving your vocabulary and pronunciation are key, but the true test is can you spell the words you are saying?
But the human mind is an amazing thing.
I came across the following article on the internet recently and thought it would be fun to add it to my blog. English learners at a higher level should have no problem reading it, but it might be a fun challenge for lower level learners. So here we go.......
fi yuo cna raed tihs, yuo hvae a sgtrane mnid too. I cdnuolt blveiee taht I cluod aulacity uesdnatnrd waht I was rdanieg. The phaonmneal pweor of the hmuan mnid, aoccdrnig to a Cmabrigde Uinervtisy, it dseno'y mtaetr in waht oerdr the ltteres in a wrod are, the olny iproamtnt tihng is taht the frsit and lsat ltteer be in the rghit pclae. The rset can be a taotl mses and you can sitll raed it whotuit a pboerlm. Tihs is bcuseae the huamn mnid deos not raed ervey lteter by istlef, but the wrod as a wlohe. Azanmig huh? Yaeh and I awlyas tghuhot sipeling was ipmorantt!
So how did you do?
Obviously, this is just a bit of fun. Spelling is very important. It doesn't look good when a piece of text is littered with errors. So take care, as no-one likes to see msitaeks!!!!
